Activities of the pilot phase of Danube:Future comprised three modules:
(a) the core module focused on networking and the provision of information services. Major activities comprised the Danube:Future International Workshop organized at
Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt in spring 2015 and the Knowledge
Base.
(b) within the capacity building module, principles and structure for interdisciplinary and international sustainability training for
PhD-students and young scientists were developed. Five Danube:Future Interdisciplinary Schools were organized between 2013 and 2018.
(c) the research module, which assembled different individual research projects addressing sustainability-related research with a long-term
socio-ecological component.
