"The role of natural heritage for the sustainable development of the Danube region"

In 2014, two days of lectures presented and discussed the role of natural heritage in sustainable development from different scientific perspectives. Two full-day excursions to the area of Idrija (Isonzo/Soča river, mercury mining and pollution) and Idrica river basin and to the area of Cona Island (Isonzo mouth) and Lagoon of Grado offered a unique opportunity for students to engage with the sustainability challenges of river basins. The second half of the school was dedicated to group work by students. Student groups identified a project to be develop throughout the school. Group presentations with direct feedback by an evaluation committee ended this experience.
